A-Rosa
A-Rosa was founded in 2000 in Rostock, Germany, as an offshoot of P&O Cruises with the aim of offering customers unique experiences while sailing on the most famous European rivers. Initially, it focused mainly on European clientele and was sold to a private owner three years later.
In 2013, it entered into a partnership with the shipping company David Morris International and began to promote its services on the North American market, which it addressed with an all-inclusive offer including air transport from the continent's capitals and transfers to ports. Great emphasis was also placed on onboard catering, especially on fresh ingredients and exceptional quality.
Currently, A-Rosa operates fifteen ships that sail on major European rivers, such as the Rhine, Main, Moselle, Danube, Rhone, Seine, Saône and Douro. The company offers what is so great about cruising – you can visit a whole range of exceptional destinations even though you only unpack once.
Most cabins on A-Rosa ships are comfortable standard cabins with two single beds, which can be joined into a double bed on request, some cabins also have a third bed. On board some ships you will also find several suites. The center of the ship is the sun deck with comfortable chairs and sofas, a swimming pool and a buffet.
Beyond that, there are some truly innovative things that set the company apart from the rest. For example, A-Rosa wants to satisfy all guests who live a more active lifestyle, regardless of their age. They can choose from a whole range of excursions that include hiking, kayaking or quad biking, horseback riding and other activities in the ports. For those who want their earthly experiences to be a little more sedentary and relaxing, the company has excursions focused on history, art or food and wine.
A-Rosa places special emphasis on wellness on board its ships. Each of its ships offers extensive spas, some of which even have several steam cabins, treatment rooms and relaxation areas. There are masseurs and trainers on board, and it is definitely worth mentioning a sauna with a beautiful view.
No less important is the dining on board A-Rosa. There are indoor and outdoor restaurants and open kitchens where you can watch your food being prepared with your own eyes. The cuisine on which the company focuses is Mediterranean cuisine. Cocktails are included in the price of the cruise, which is why the atmosphere on the ships is less formal than is customary with other companies.
A-Rosa has created a lot of cruise itineraries, not only for European, but also for North American audiences. These include the most popular river ports and cruises through the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. The company also offers special seasonal cruises, such as the magical Christmas markets in December.
